Minimum Salary - 136,000.00
Maximum Salary - 170,000.00
The Role:
Aspen Insurance is seeking a seasoned Senior Underwriter with a focus on Environmental risks. This role offers the opportunity to underwrite high value and complex risks in accordance with the business plan and within delegated underwriting authority. The successful candidate will contribute to functional strategy development, manage tactical plans, and ensure control of underwriting service performance. Key Accountabilities:
As a Senior Underwriter specializing in Environmental risks, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's underwriting strategies. You will be responsible for managing the underwriting service performance, ensuring that it aligns with the overall business targets. Your role will involve working closely with various stakeholders to develop sustainable underwriting products and services that attract and retain customers. You will also be tasked with maintaining quality assurance systems to ensure effective control over robust underwriting processes.
- Develop and implement processes aligning the underwriting function with the needs of the class of business
- Maintain underwriting quality assurance systems for effective control and delivery of robust processes
- Ensure accurate recording and measurement of insurance risks
- Work with stakeholders to develop sustainable underwriting products and services
- Establish strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues
- Perform complex underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:
The ideal candidate for this Senior Underwriter position brings extensive experience from an underwriting environment within a specialized or complex area. You have professional qualifications at degree level or equivalent, along with significant post-qualification work experience within related environments. As an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (or equivalent), you have demonstrated your commitment to professional development. Your strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively make you an excellent fit for this role.
- In-depth experience in an underwriting environment within a specialized/complex area
- Professional qualifications at degree level or equivalent
- Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting technical and operational strategy
- Experience managing underwriting teams/resources
- Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office applications e.g. Excel as well as other departmental software packages
