The minimum and maximum salaries for this job role are below:

 

Minimum Salary -  92,800.00

Maximum Salary -  116,000.00

 

The Role

 

Supports the global Outwards Reinsurance business with ensuring an effective and efficient Outward Reinsurance function. Supports the Group Head of Outward Reinsurance and others in the development of reinsurance strategy to effectively redistribute underwriting risk as required by the business plan demonstrating collaboration, awareness and understanding of various departments involved in the reinsurance process, including Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial, Claims, Legal and others as appropriate to deliver on critical outward reinsurance activities. Key Accountabilities

 

  • Contributes to and supports the preparation, implementation and ensures delivery of Outwards Reinsurance strategy through operational deliverables to achieve positive results for the business in line with strategy
  • Responsible for the outwards reinsurance business financial planning process as directed by the Group Head of Outwards Reinsurance
  • Understand, articulate and explain changes in the outwards reinsurance program and effect(s) on plan financials
  • Assists in the creation and execution of effective planning, control, and support mechanisms to ensure delivery of the business plan in line with market and shareholder expectations
  • Contributes to Aspen’s reinsurance procedures and controls for the collection, review, consolidation and analysis of reinsurance information
  • Manage monthly and Quarterly internal reports for internal distribution
  • Manage reinsurer interaction with Aspen’s underwriter teams during presentations, audits, file reviews and the like
  • Ensures outwards reinsurance files are maintained in a logical and accessible manner and/or other placement issues are clearly documented at all times
  • Where applicable ensure company, market and client related documentation is issued (internally and externally) accurately and on time.
  • Comply with external and internal regulatory and statutory policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Identifies and executes process improvements across the team, department and/or business unit for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Liaise with Outwards Reinsurance Operations, Accounting and Underwriting to ensure all accounting and administration process requirements are accurately interpreted
  • Liaise with underwriting teams to obtain and help prepare timely and effective reinsurance narratives and presentations sufficient to obtain market leading reinsurance support and solutions.
  • To operate as an effective team member by supporting colleagues and contributing to the delivery and achievement of overall team and business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with Operations, Accounting, Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, Information Technology, Project Management, and other Finance areas
  • Develop relationships for servicing our capital partners, underwriting teams, the outwards placement team, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Develop relationships with Aspen’s significant reinsurance partners and brokers to facilitate high service levels
  • Responsibility to support internal stakeholders and capital partners with standard and bespoke reporting
  • Liaise with underwriting teams to obtain and prepare timely and effective reinsurance narratives and presentations sufficient to obtain market leading reinsurance support and solutions.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of key internal reinsurance reports capturing placement activity, variance to plan, and yearly planning
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely ongoing administration of the Outwards Reinsurance purchased liaising with ORAO, Underwriters, Claims, Actuaries, Reinsurance Brokers, Reinsurers and other stakeholders, both internal and external, as appropriate
  • Work with the Outwards Reinsurance Accounting and Operations (ORAO) team to ensure they have sufficient detail and information to enable them to administer and report on purchases in the most efficient and timely manner
  • Enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management initiatives within assigned areas of responsibility
  • Effective engagement with brokers and stakeholders on Expected Loss
  • Provides tactical direction and support to Group Head of Outwards Re to ensure plan initiatives are shared with key stakeholders
  • Develops own Reinsurance knowledge, standards, and procedures
  • Support a strong culture of accountability and performance through personal example to ensure delivery of goals
  • Acts as a point of reference to guide and advise others to ensure the sharing of knowledge and best practice.
  • To operate as an effective team member by supporting colleagues and contributing in the delivery and achievement of overall team and business objectives.

 

Skills & Experience

 

  • Strong reinsurance analytical skills

  • Able to independently investigate and trace through data issues, in coordination with internal departments, to confirm ceded reinsurance calculations.
  • 5 years plus reinsurance operations, accounting, contract wording and financial planning experience
  • Actuarial knowledge is a plus
  • Project management experience
  • Professional qualifications (+ broad business qualifications) at a level of degree or equivalent qualification
  • Track record of success
  • Reputable experience in the marketplace
  • Experience working with senior level colleagues
